Enemy Activities

Heavy enemy air attacks on Palembang. Over 30 Allied aircraft destroyed on the ground.

Operations and Movements.

      SUTLEJ (Convoy EMU) reported attacked by 18 enemy aircraft in RYLD 0818 at 1305 GH.

      HERMES arrived Mauitius.

      VERBENA arrived Durban.

      CORNWALL, BATHURST, and LISMORE left Colombo.

      FALMOUTH arrived Colombo.

SINGAPORE

Rear Admiral MALAYA reported power station, graving dock, pumping machinery and caissons denial schemes carried out. Small floating dock awaiting towage to Keppel Harbour. Every endeavour being made by day and night to comply with instructions regarding machinery, stores and ammunition, but enemy shelling roads and vicinity of baseduring night. The sudden withdrawal of the Army, lack of transport, and complete desertion of labour had made it impossible to do much. (0945Z/4).

BURMA

Two runways temporarily unserviceable at Mingaladon after 4 bomb attacks, Two of our aircraft destryed on ground. 24 fighters attacked Rangoon, we shot down 2, 4 probable, 1 damaged.
