British Sumatra Battalion

End April 1943

Instead of building embankments or laying sleepers and track the British Battalion and Americans were put to work unloading the sleepers and track from steam trains and then reloading them onto small diesel trucks. The food was a lot better at this camp but the monsoon season was nearly upon them. on the 2nd may 1943 the Battalion and Americans were moved back to Helpauk.
